I wasn’t aware of postmenopausal symptoms until they emerged after my menopause. The vaginal dryness, soreness and itchiness is there all the time. You can actually feel a tightness inside. It’s an unpleasant condition to live with and it’s about time that more people know about it.
You can actually feel a tightness inside; the lining of your vagina thins and it creates friction I suppose it is actually progressive from the time that you have your menopause. When it’s something that you don't understand, you’re a bit scared. You don't tend to seek help straight away in case that the GP finds something sinister or something. So yes, I think I would seek help much earlier.
Now that I know that there are other women experiencing the same condition, of course I don't feel alone, but there's still, people don't talk about it. We, we don't talk about this, do we? This makes me feel old before my time. It's not a life-threatening condition. It's an unpleasant condition to have to live with. It's about time that more people know about it rather than thinking it's just a rare thing, which it’s not.
It’s something a lot of people don’t understand.
